PASSPORT RENEWAL

Passport renewals and new applications are available to the general public from 09:30 – 12:30, Monday to Thursday, except on Malaysian and/or Dutch holidays. Passport renewals are done by appointment only.

Malaysians with a Residence Permit that has not been issued in The Netherlands are advised to renew their passports in the country where the Residence Permit has been issued. If you still wish to renew your passport with this Embassy, please provide an official translation of your Residence Permit certified by the Immigration Department in the country where your Residence Permit has been issued.

Malaysian passports are issued by our Immigration Department at the High Commission in London and sent to this Embassy via registered mail. Customs clearing can take up to a few weeks. Therefore, the processing time for new passport applications is approximately eight to ten weeks. We recommend ensuring sufficient time is factored in ahead of your planned trip to receive your new passport on time.

Applicants must provide the following (original) documents:

Passport photo requirements:

  • Not older than 6 months
  • Neutral facial expression with both eyes open and mouth closed
  • No head coverings unless worn daily for religious purposes.
  • Head scarf should be in a dark color and can’t cast any shadows on the face
  • White background
  • 35mm x 50mm
  • No glasses or contact lenses
  • No earrings or other accessories
  • Dark clothes covering shoulders and chest
  • Ears and hairline have to be visible

Expedited passport renewal

It is no longer possible to have your application expedited through this Embassy. For urgent cases, please visit the Malaysian Immigration office in London and apply in person.

You are advised to check the requirements and operating hours via www.jimlondon.net.
