VISA APPLICATION

Citizens of the Netherlands do not require a visa to visit Malaysia for business or social reasons. Their stay in Malaysia must not exceed 90 days. Please note that Dutch visitors may need to present proof of sufficient funds and a return airline ticket upon arrival at the first point of entry in Malaysia.

Travelers with a Dutch “Reisdocument” (grey/green cover) will need to apply for a visa.

Visa application through the eVISA website

If you are unable to visit the Embassy, you can also apply for a Single Entry or Multiple Entry eVisa.

Visa application through the Embassy

You may also apply for your visa through the Embassy. In this case you would have to be present at the Embassy for your application. There are 2 types of visa’s you can apply for at this Embassy:

If you are a citizen from a country that requires a visa before entering into Malaysia, please submit the application to the Embassy at least 7 days prior to your date of departure. You will receive a stamped visa in your passport within 3 working days from the time of submission.

This visa is issued to foreign nationals who require a visa to enter Malaysia mainly for social or business visits and is valid for a single entry into Malaysia. Multiple Entry Visa’s can be issued if all tickets to and from Malaysia are included in the application. The requirements for a visa are as follows:

  1. Visa Application form (please print out double sided)
  2. A passport with a validity of more than 6 months from the intended date of entry
  3. A valid Dutch residence permit (if applicable)
  4. A return ticket to and from Malaysia or to a third country
  5. Proof of accommodation in Malaysia for the full duration of your stay*
  6. Guarantee/invitation letter (business)
  7. One passport photo
  8. Visa Fee (Please bring the exact amount in cash only)
 
*If you are staying with friends or family in Malaysia, please include a guarantee letter and a copy of their passport and visa or IC.

If you are planning to work, study, volunteer or do your internship in Malaysia you will have to apply for a visa through your company/university. Once your application has been approved you will receive a letter from the Malaysian Immigration Department which will instruct you on how to proceed. If you are being instructed to visit the Embassy of Malaysia in The Hague to obtain a Single Entry Visa with reference, please make an appointment and bring the following documents:

  1. Visa Application form (please print out double sided)
  2. A passport with a validity of more than 6 months from the intended date of entry
  3. Letter from the Malaysian Immigration Department (eVAL/VDR)
  4. A valid Dutch residence permit (if applicable)
  5. Ticket to Malaysia
  6. One passport photo
  7. Visa Fee (Please bring the exact amount in cash only)

The Consular Officer may request additional documents and proof.  Please note that holders of Malaysian visa are still subject to immigration control at the point of entry and therefore their entry into Malaysia is not guaranteed.

Yellow Fever Certificate is only necessary if you are holding a passport from the following countries:

Angola, Benin, Bolivia, Brazil, Burkina, Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Central Africa Republic, Chad, Colombia, Congo, Cote d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ecuador, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, French Guiana, Gabon, Guyana, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Panama, Peru, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Suriname, Tanzania, Togo, Trinidad & Tobago, Uganda and Venezuela.

Visa exemption for Chinese and Indian passport holders

Starting from the 1st of December 2023 until the 31st of December 2024, Chinese and Indian passport holders are granted a 30-day visa exemption.
